Celebrating, preserving, and reestablishing the Bigtooth Maple across the Intermountain West.
Welcome to Idaho Mapleworks
Why This. Why Now.
I did not set out to start a movement. I set out to do something useful with the life I have.
I grew up among maples, learned vision and patience from my Mom and Dad, learned work and patience on my grandfather’s farm, explored the American West by race course and two-track, and spent a career in respiratory care where systems keep people alive. I studied business because structure matters. I studied biology because living things matter.
By chance and choice, I now live in the middle of the Bigtooth Maple’s remaining habitat. That is opportunity. The kind that asks a simple question… “What can I build here that does the most good for the most people and the land we share?”
A Story Shaped by Fire
In 2012 the Charlotte Fire swept through Pocatello. Our house was saved, but the fire line stopped fifty feet from our back door. A bulldozer cut that line through our yard and down the valley. The Bureau of Land Management sent an excavator to repair the work later, but the land carried new scars and the loss was real. We counted one hundred sixty-nine scorched juniper trees for insurance. Years later, as the dead junipers come down, the hillside is thinning. The lesson is simple. We must plant what can hold and heal. Bigtooth Maples are more fire resistant than juniper and they belong here. They are a prime candidate to reforest this valley. This is the convenience of opportunity and the core of my mission.

What Partners and Investors Can Expect
-
Idaho Mapleworks is a conservation-driven enterprise restoring the Bigtooth Maple across the Intermountain West. We operate at the intersection of research, craft, and community—where commerce funds conservation, and every product helps plant the next tree.
-
Revenue from Mapleworks Trading Co. and The Bigtooth Collection funds the work of Mapleworks Conservation Co. It’s a self-sustaining model—products create purpose, purpose funds restoration, and restoration builds lasting value.
-
Partnerships directly support propagation, planting, and educational initiatives. Each collaboration helps expand the map of restored maple habitat, supports public outreach, and builds a shared culture of stewardship and respect for the land.
-
Yes. You can sponsor seedling lots, school projects, or local restoration efforts. Sponsors receive progress updates, planting photos, and site recognition options that fit their level of involvement.
-
Impact is tracked through saplings propagated, survival rates at one and three years, and total acres restored. Quarterly field notes summarize the numbers and highlight new partnerships and educational milestones.
-
Idaho Mapleworks maintains clear separation between its branches. Trading Co. and Bigtooth Collection handle commercial sales; Conservation Co. manages field operations and education. All income, expenses, and reinvestments are documented to ensure transparency and compliance.
